ROAE3 welcomes Udon Thani Rajabhat University students seeking information to prepare agricultural disaster warning reports for Udon Thani Province
On October 6, 2026, Ms. Pawalisa Sirikul, Agricultural Economist (Senior Professional Level) and Acting Director of the Regional Office of Agricultural Economics 3 (ROAE3), together with Ms. Narinpat Lekhaphanrat, Policy and Plan Analyst (Senior Professional Level) from the Agricultural Economic Zone Development Division, and Ms. Wipavee Sreetasroi, Policy and Plan Analyst (Professional Level) from the Agricultural Information Division, welcomed and provided information to fourth-year students in the Thai for Communication Program, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Udon Thani Rajabhat University.
The students visited ROAE3 to gather information and conduct interviews for agricultural disaster warning reports as part of their practical coursework in news writing and reporting.
ROAE3 provided information on the province’s major agricultural commodities, agricultural disaster conditions, prevention and preparedness measures, and approaches to reducing farmers’ vulnerability and supporting their adaptation to climate change at the local level. Topics included proactive risk assessment, access to agricultural weather information, implementation of Udon Thani Province’s agricultural disaster prevention and mitigation plan for the dry season, and crop insurance to reduce economic impacts.
The discussion also covered adaptation practices, including adjusting planting calendars to changing seasonal conditions, selecting crop varieties tolerant of drought, flooding, pests, and diseases, developing on-farm water reserves, and improving water and soil management. Integrated farming and New Theory agriculture were also discussed as approaches to reducing the risks associated with monoculture. The students will use the information to prepare news articles and agricultural disaster warning reports to help farmers understand the risks and prepare for agricultural disasters.
